The Side Street Project is back, tanned and fit, after a summer break. Of course, we still took in some music, including the glorious Hillside Festival and the Rogers Picnic in Toronto. At Hillside, Emily Haines was hypnotic and Shout Out Out Out Out were incredible, rocking the same stage that in 2006 saw similarly ecstasy-inducing performances from Cuff the Duke and Holy Fuck. Tegan and Sara at the Picnic made a direct and personal connection with audience, many of whom seemed to be there especially for them.

Of course it wasn’t all about sitting in the sun. We’ve been pushing the show forward and taking steps to get it to you. We really appreciate you sticking by us on our journey - we’ve teased you before with some 30 second clips, and now you definitely deserve something special.

If you’ve spent any time on our site, you know that the show’s emphasis is on the craft of musicianship and performance. Musical collaborations depend upon the artists’ common language, and, for an audience, collaborations can bring new light to original songs and cover versions.

For your pleasure we’ve posted one of the highlights from the pilot show, Emm Gryner singing “Pour Some Sugar On Me”, originally performed by Def Leppard, in a unique collaboration with Holy F*ck and Buck 65. Emm’s performance is one of the sexiest things you will see and hear, and the sensitivity that Buck and Holy F*ck bring to their accompaniments is unexpected and very wonderful.

We hope you enjoy it.

See you next time on the Side Street.

We know of some radio shows that feature collaborations - but nobody is filming them and we don't see this type of show on any TV station or online.

We hope you like the short clips we have posted....we will post some more in the next update but we feel good about the way the show looks and feels...and we hope you do, too - please write us with any comments.

A network or online partner is what we're looking for at the moment so we can broadcast the show and get the show out to you! We had a screening for crew and artists and it went superbly well. Great responses from everyone and the show looked great and sounded exciting...intimate and powerful and good fun had by all. It was great to see the show after many months had passed, with an audience, to gage an objective feeling about the show and it was very positive!

See you soon on The Side Street.

It's an amazing process. Creating a show, gathering a couple of dozen people together and watching them work passionately and to be able to watch 3 artists perform magic on stage.

Our (your) 'pilot' show of 47 minutes is finished.

We are thrilled with the audio, the images, the performances, the feel and the excitement as you watch unique performers come together for the FIRST time on one stage and do their thing.

We feel that the stars were aligned for everyone on September 14, 2006 as we had no issues with picture, audio or any technical aspects. The post-production process was exciting as we were able to see the three hours of footage shot that night and our editors expertly chose and edited some beautiful and organic moments. The energy in the crowd was palpable and their attention to the artistry and performances was focused. We look forward to sharing it with everyone and man, we cannot wait to do it again.

As you may know, we want to create an ongoing Series of shows like this so stay with us as we are looking for various partners to make this happen. You will see the show soon....that is our priority and the reason we created the show. The music, the passion, the fun and a chance to witness 3 artists collaborating. We don't have a show like that available anywhere that we know of.

Send us emails, ideas, comments - whatever you like. This show is by all of us for all of us.
Until we meet again on The Side Street...
